History

Waterstorm and the Early Days

The people behind Rarebyte originally met back in 1999 to work on games. After years of working together and sharpening our skills, we officially founded Rarebyte as a company in 2006. Right from the start we wanted to fly at higher game, so we skipped the cliché of a garage company and went straight for the attic. Waterstorm, a fast paced side-scrolling multiplayer submarine shooter, was our first game as a company. We developed all needed tech (game engine, editor, game client, backend) ourselves, and self-published the game which then became a door opener to the games industry.

Games for Live Masses/Events

Rarebyte also has a long history of developing games specifically designed to attract people to stands at big shows like Gamescom, Paris Games Week, or ESL events.

Game Dev Tycoon (mobile)

In collaboration with Greenheart Games, we created a mobile version for the critically acclaimed game development business simulation.

Seeds of Sol

Our isometric action adventure with roguelike elements feat. a multiple personality AI.
